Our charter
To promote the enjoyment of the R/C hobby through the building and flying of model aircraft in accordance with established AMA and club rules and guidelines
QMFC Flying Site Regulations
- Members will be allowed only ONE rules violation warning. If the member violates a rule for the second time, he/she will be expelled from the club.
- Flying restricted to the hours of 10 AM to 8 PM only – Monday to Saturday (Noon to 8 PM on Sunday) (Lancaster). Sun rise to Sunset every day at Holden.
- All aircraft will conform to the noise level of 90 dB maximum at 9 feet from the rear of the muffler.
- No more than three (3) aircraft in the air at one time at the Doc Bartlett (Lancaster) field. No more than five (5) aircraft in the air at one time at the Holden field, and no more than three (3) of those five may be nitro/gas aircraft.
- No flying to the South of the boundary line between the pits and the runway (Lancaster). No flying in the No-Fly Zones (Holden).
- Flying for Club members only and members’ guests.
- Current AMA membership is required.
- Effective mufflers and prop nuts are required.
- Frequency flags, tags, and transmitter impound area must be used.
- All trash must be picked up and site area kept neat and clean.
- Spectators are not allowed beyond the established barriers.
- Novice and/or new members cannot fly alone.
- Visiting non-members allowed to fly only when they have their current AMA membership cards in their possession and are accompanied by a QMFC member who is in good standing and must adhere to the flying site regulations.
- Unpowered aircraft (gliders) are allowed to fly at the field as long as these rules are followed:
- Highstarts, winches. or other similar launch apparatus may be used as long as it does not interfere with the operation of other powered aircraft or gliders.
- Towing of gliders by powered aircraft is also allowed.
- A glider pilot must get the permission to launch from all the other pilots currently flying.
- Glider flights must be limited to 15 minutes if someone else needs the R/C channel being used by the glider.
- No alcoholic beverages or controlled drugs are allowed on the site. No smoking in the runway/pits area at Holden.
- Solo flying only by qualified pilots (with properly stamped current QMFC membership cards in their possession.)
- Qualified pilots moving up to the next more difficult to fly plane must demonstrate their skills and capabilities to a qualified QMFC instructor before flying the plane unsupervised.
- While flying, a member shall have their current AMA membership card in their possession to assure insurance coverage.
- No taxiing in the pit area. All aircraft are to be carried or pushed out onto the flight line.
- All members shall be responsible for the safety of others by safe flying and adherence to the AMA and QMFC flying site regulations.
- Any official club instructor may certify a novice pilot to “Solo” pilot level except his/her own students.
- To become an instructor, one must be signed off by two existing instructors.
- To operate the master side of a buddy-box setup, the operator must be signed off as a QMFC pilot or instructor. The QMFC strongly recommends that novice pilots receive flight training from qualified club instructors.
- Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent (or legal guardian) with them when in the pit area, flight line or runway at any QMFC flying field.
